STORY
Indika Entertainment Advertising specializes in
the creation of print and web campaigns for Feature Film,
Network Television, Cable as well as Home Entertainment.
Established in 1994 in New York City, and headed by founders
James Verdesoto and Vivek Mathur, this award winning firm
has created Key Art campaigns for mainstream Hollywood movies; Academy Award winning films, and Independent cinema.
Indika's clients are based in New York, Hollywood and
worldwide, and include studios, distribution companies and production companies.
Indika has won 19 Key Art Awards / Nominations for projects as diverse as Ocean's Eleven, Pulp Fiction, 1999's IFC's Primal Screen Film Series.
In addition, Creative Director James Verdesoto is on the jury of
2011 Key Art Awards.
Indika is named after the book written by Megasthenes,
one of Alexander The Great's generals, about the world of riches
they saw on their journey to conquer the world.
JAMES VERDESOTO
Even before graduating from Parsons School of Design in New York City, where he grew up, James Verdeosoto won a national contest to design a movie poster. Sponsored by Bob and Harvey Weinstein, the contest was to design the key art for the 1981 horror film The Burning. From then on James started the in-house creative services department at Miramax Films, and as Creative Director, went on to create campaigns for hits such as Pulp Fiction, The Crying Game, The Piano and over 200 other films.
In 1992, he co-founded Indika Entertainment Advertising with partner Vivek Mathur and has gone on to create campaigns for films including The English Patient, Oceans 11, Oceans 12, Training Day, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Before Night Falls, The Last Samurai, Knotting Hill , Man on the Moon, Girl Interrupted, Valentino The Last Emperor, The Road, Cairo Time and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.
To date, he has created over 400 movie posters for clients including Sony, Warner Bros., Universal, Fox, The Weinstein Company, Miramax Films, New Line, HBO, and many others. He recently had a solo retrospective exhibit of 100 posters at the Itchimbia Museum in Quito, Ecuador. His campaign for Pulp Fiction won the Key Art Award for Best Drama Poster and the Oceans 11 teaser poster won the Key Art Award for Best Teaser Poster, and was hailed by Entertainment Weekly as "the perfect poster."

VIVEK MATHUR
Vivek Mathur co-founded Indika in 1992 with James Verdesoto. Before Indika, Vivek worked at The Pasanella Company, a critically acclaimed design studio in New York, and created advertising for the Tribeca Film Center.
As a partner in the firm, Vivek has worked on campaigns as varied as The Last Samurai and Ocean's Eleven to Y Tu Mama Tambien
and Cave of Forgotten Dreams.
